(15 minute) Pizza Dough & Toppings
ONE full (12 inch) pizza dough (15 minutes)
-1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
-1 teaspoon white sugar
-1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
-2 ½ cups bread flour
-2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
Directions :
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
2. Stir in flour, salt and oil. Beat until smooth. Let rest for 5 minutes.
3. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round.
Transfer crust to a lightly greased pizza pan or baker's peel dusted with cornmeal. (I used flour instead of cornmeal)
Spread with desired toppings (2 toppings recipes below) and bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let baked pizza cool for 5 minutes before serving.
instead of using the pizza pan I prefer to use a cast iron skillet or a pizza stone. Leave the cast iron/pizza stone in the oven while it’s heating up, still cover it with flower.
if worried about moisture content of ingredients affecting the crust you can also bake crust for 5-10 minutes and then put toppings on and bake for another 10-15 minutes.
Topping Option 1 - Prosciutto Goodness
-1 tbsp olive oil
-1tsp minced garlic
Spread across pizza after you have laid dough in pan
-1 cup mozzarella cheese mix (6 cheese with Asiago works), use up to a cup and a half, to taste
-1tsp diced pimentos
-¼ cup diced orange bell pepper
-¼ cup mushrooms
-6 strips of prosciutto divided evenly across pizza
-¼ cup pepperoni or ham circles
-¼-½ cup Parmesan cheese to top
Topping Option 2 - Petty Pizza
Well, I guess I’ll give a small amount of background for this pizza. Someone didn’t think the prosciutto and cheese etc. Would be enough and asked me to go to the store at 7pm on the weekend to get more meat and toppings. Okay.. you want more toppings? Not a problem.
-1 Tbsp olive Oil
-1 tsp garlic
Same beginning for this one
-1 cup Mozzarella cheese mix (+ half cup of another cheese mix if you have it, for spite.)
-⅓ cup chopped cherry tomatoes
-⅓ cup diced orange bell pepper
-⅓ cup mushrooms
-¼ cup diced red onions
-¼ cup black olives
-(optional) sprinkle some jarred jalapeños
-3 grilled sausages, cut into quarter inch think circles
-½ cup of already cooked Italian ground sausage
-¼ cup pepperoni circle cuts
-¼ cup ham circle cuts
-¼ cup extra cheese mix + ¼ cup parmesan cheese mix
-¼ cup fresh bacon bits.
Yeah.. definitely over the top.
