Vanilla flavoured biscuits, Greek-style.
This is a staple recipe that belongs in every recipe box.
Subtle notes of lemon zest and orange juice deliver subtle flavours you never knew you needed! Happy baking.
Biscuits Ingredients :
- 250g unsalted butter, room temp
- 1 1/4 cups caster sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- Zest of 1/4 lemon or orange
- 5 1/2 – 6 cups self raising flour, sifted
- 2t baking powder
- Dash ouzo (optional) or 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg, beaten with a dash milk for glaze

VANILLA FLAVOURED BISCUITS Directions:
Preheat oven to 170 degrees fan forced
Line baking trays with baking paper
With mixer, cream butter for 5 mins until creamy and white. Gradually add sugar. Beat further 4 mins.
Add one egg at a time. Add OJ and zest and ouzo.
In seperate large bowl, mix sifted flour with baking powder. Gradually spoon into wet mixture, with mixer on low. When about halfway through, stop mixer and manually mix dough with hands (wear cooking gloves if possible).
Only add as much flour as needed until the mixture becomes malleable.
Shape into koulourakia shapes and arrange on baking tray. Brush lightly with egg glaze.
Bake 15 mins or until golden brown.
